In 2019, we picked up 62 bags of garbage at the Sovsky Ponds in Kyiv and 32 more bags in Pereyaslav, a small city in the Kyiv region.

In 2021, we came back to the Sovsky Ponds to fill 69 more bags with trash that was left behind and also to plant 15 sycamore trees and 100 barberry bushes by the ponds. We also organized the #CleanMySea event at the Kinburn Spit at the Black Sea shore in the Mykolaiv region. There 26 macpawians picked up 24 bags of garbage and visited a guided tour by the Ministry of Education and Science representatives.

Only our creativity, sense of humor, and a creature named Junkman – a character created to remind people of the dangers of littering. Just like a superhero, if only superheroes’ suits were made of trash – namely snack wrappers, plastic straws and bags, and cigarette butts. Junkman became the star of our 2019 prank video The Revenge of the Junk. The video went viral with 8,5 million views across different platforms and helped us raise awareness of littering as a huge problem that needs to be addressed. The campaign received the Gold Honor Shorty Award in Environment and Sustainability and became a finalist in the “Best Motivational Video or Video Series” category of the Content Marketing Awards.
