Blood drive at the office

MacPaw is a company that promotes social responsibility and implements many charitable projects. None of this would be possible without a team that shares our values. We are proud of our colleagues who support our initiatives and are always ready to lend a helping hand.

In 2019 we held the first blood drive at our office. 20 macpawians volunteered to give blood – 8,16 liters of it, to be exact. They say that one donor saves the lives of up to 3 people, so potentially, they helped to save 60 lives!

Next year we partnered with the Blood Agents NGO to give new covers to the donor cards. These are small books identifying you as a blood donor and keeping track of your donations. The cards are not mandatory, but nice to have if you give blood regularly. The new colorful covers were created by several local designers, and we helped with the manufacturing. It was a sincere gesture to salute our blood donors and encourage people to participate.

Bone marrow donors

Another lesser-known type of donorship is becoming a potential bone marrow donor. This only takes about 5 minutes to register in the system. There are 39 million people in the World Marrow Donor Association, but only 5000 of them are in Ukraine. We offered our team to join the program, and 23 of them decided to do it. We supported their decisions and purchased the swab kits needed to collect the DNA sample for the registration.

Modern medicine has learned to perform amazing things, but it still has to rely on the support of the people, like in the case of the blood and bone marrow donors. The more people we can get to donate, the more lives we can save. That’s why all the efforts to make the process more accessible and enjoyable for the donors are extremely important in the long run. And we are happy we can contribute!
