Saving forests and planting trees

Every year the macpawians spend a day or two planting trees in the city of Kyiv or the nearby forests. Reforestation is about more than just sticking a sapling into the ground. There are a lot of conditions to be met for the tree to take root and grow big and strong. That’s why we gladly accept the support of the partners-in-crime of our environmental endeavors including the #CleanMyCity challenge, the Druhe Zhittia (Second Life) NGO. We also work closely with the local forest rangers who help us in the process.

2020

In March 2020 MacPaw took part in the reforestation in Koncha-Zaspa, an area south of Kyiv. The land there was badly affected by a recent fire. Cold weather and Covid restrictions did not prevent 25 of our colleagues and their families from participating. Together with the Druhe Zhittia NGO, we purchased 15 000 seedlings (tiny pine trees, birches, and oaks) and the forest rangers helped us plant 10 000 of them. We also set up several bat houses and insect hotels in the area

2021

In October 2021 we helped to plant trees in another location – in Holosiivskyi National Nature Park. It was also damaged by fire and in need of some new plant life. 13 macpawians, their friends and family members planted 5 000 little oak and pine tree seedlings. Tools and trees were provided by the forestry.

If only trees gave off WiFi signals

There is a saying: “If only trees gave off WiFi signals, then we would probably plant so many of them that we’d save the planet; too bad they only produce the oxygen we breathe”. MacPaw is a tech company dedicating our time and resources to planting trees, so the irony is not lost on us. It’s a world we all live in, so we’ll just keep saving the planet one tree at a time.
